| The Flashing-eyed Skeleton celebrates with
other creatures of the night

As expected, Holiday Hotel's
annual Halloween/Masquerade Party was a hit! This much needed, stress-relieving
event gave many residents of San Pedro the opportunity to socialize once again
with friends and acquaintances. Many die-hard party-goers found time to create
costumes and in return won one of many fabulous prizes. Others, more discreetly
dressed, just wanted to be where the fun was. Joining the locals at the Holiday
was a group of over twenty tourists dressed in Halloween attire, adding more
color to the festive evening. Live music by Wil and the Caribbean Shells and
elaborate party decorations set the mood for those who went to enjoy the "Party
- After the Storm."
The Masquerade Party served its purpose
and after some aspirin the following
morning, many more happy faces have now sprung up in San Pedro.

Others went home
that night with a little extra, courtesy of many local businesses. The 2000
Masquerade Party winners and their prizes were: 1st place - The Flashing Eye Skeleton -
(designed by Dimas Guerrero) Roundtrip ticket to the USA courtesy of TACA
Airlines. 2nd place - Keith
Survivors - (Santos Acosta and group) - A two-night stay at the Princess Hotel
and Casino plus a trip to Altun Ha courtesy of Suya Tours. Most Elegant - The
Geisha (Tanya Samoila) - Haircut, manicure and pedicure courtesy of Hair
Designs, Belize City. Group Prize - The Pirates (Mayan Princess guests) - Two
bottles of tequila. Consolation prizes were also given out to others in costumes
with most winners receiving a gift certificate courtesy of Sweet
Basil.
