The Belize City Centre
was filled with competition last Friday evening, June
27th, as eight lovely
ladies vied for the prestigious title of Miss Belize 2003. Although every
one of them was highly qualified, only one went home wearing the crown -
Miss Leilah Pandy of Belize City. She was also awarded the title of "Miss
Physique". Miss Dalila Vanzie of Dangriga was named first runner up in
the competition and was also awarded the prize for Miss Photogenic.
The new Miss Belize Leilah Pandy is a 22-year-old
marketing and public relations manager for Princess Casino in Belize
City. Miss Pandy studied Natural Resources Management and Biology at the
University of Belize (UB). She was a founding member of the Professional
Environmental Club at UB and aspires to someday be a marine biologist.
During her pre-pageant personal interview, Miss Pandy stated she believed
that, by holding the title of Miss Belize, she could make a more positive
difference in her world.
Selected as second runner up was Miss Andrea Elrington
of Belize City, who was also picked by her fellow
contestants as Miss Congeniality. The
third runner up was Farah Evans of Ladyville.
On behalf of the community, The San
Pedro Sun congratulates Miss Belize Leilah Pandy and
