Sergeant Irma Anderson
|
Effective Monday, November 8th, 2004, the community of San Pedro
welcomed Sergeant Irma Anderson to "La Isla Bonita." Sergeant Anderson
replaced Inspector Moreira who is recently on extended vacation.
Originally from Cotton Tree Village, Sergeant Irma Anderson entered the
Police Academy in Belmopan soon after successfully completing her high
school education. Graduating on November 17th, 1987, she first used her
training as a uniformed police officer in the Belmopan Police Department.
She was then transferred to Belmopan Headquarters as an assistant to Compol
Operations, dealing directly with operations under the supervision of the
Assistant Commissioner of Operations.
In 1999, Sergeant Anderson's hard work paid off when she earned the rank
of Corporal and was then transferred to the Dragon Unit. At the unit, she
took care of the more serious crime investigations. Two short years later,
she was honored to be promoted to Sergeant.
Mrs. Anderson assumed her new position as Sergeant and was assigned to the
San Pedro Police Department. Assisted by Sergeant Kenneth Magdaleno in her
new position, Mrs. Anderson is Commander-In-Charge and responsible for staff
supervision and operations of both San Pedro Town and Caye Caulker.
In an interview with The San Pedro Sun, Sergeant Anderson stated that
she will try to "stomp corruption; including the small offenses, such as
traffic and those who violate their liquor licenses." She is familiar with
many of the gang members and troublemakers who visit "La Isla Bonita" in
search of a quick and easy income from both unsuspecting tourists and
prosperous local residents. Mrs. Anderson ended by stating that she hopes
both communities will continue their efforts to work with the Police
Departments in order to combat crime on the islands.
On behalf of everyone in San Pedro, The San Pedro Sun wishes Sergeant
Anderson a successful and rewarding career on Ambergris Caye!
