The San Pedro Sun joins the community of San Pedro in welcoming a new
woman police constable - Kendra Thomas to "La Isla Bonita." Fresh out of the
police academy, Ms. Thomas joins the police force consisting of 28 officers
on the island.
Originally from San Ignacio, Cayo, Woman Police
Constable #1159 Thomas
was born on July 14th, 1985. After successfully finishing her high school
education at Sacred Heart College, Thomas decided to take a year off her
studies. "I always wanted to be in the Youth Corp however, I never had the
privilege. I figured joining the academy would come close."
With her dream of becoming a police officer, Thomas
entered the Police
Academy in Belmopan. She proudly graduated on January 28th, 2005, and first
used her training as a uniformed woman police officer in the Patrol Branch
at the Belize City Police Department.
On May 3rd, 2005, Thomas assumed her new position as
Woman Constable
assigned to the San Pedro Police Department. On "La Isla Bonita," she
handles most of the secretarial work, assists in domestic and child abuse
cases and does patrol work during the weekends.
In an interview with The Sun, Woman Officer Thomas
stated that she had
never been to the island before and it has certainly been a new experience.
"I love my job and as such will try to carry out all my duties to the best
on my abilities," she ended.
On behalf of everyone in San Pedro, The San Pedro Sun
wishes Kendra
Thomas a pleasant stay in Ambergris Caye.
